What is Watch Gap you ask?
If you have not seen the concept, it looks at the Gap in Price between the 1st fav and the second fav or the third fave.
A strong back trend if a gap of 3.00 or more.
So if the 1st fav is 2.50 and the second fav is 5.50, that is a 3.00 pound or dollar gap, so it is a 3.00 gap.
If you want a to maybe look at a laying option, races that have 1st and 2nd fav close in the price, then this could be a strong lay.
Look at the recent UK results on the Lay.
This is the fav that has a gap of between 0.40 and 1.50 so the close 2nd fav that is only .40 upto 1.50
Example: 1st fav 2.5, 2nd fav 3.50, gap is 1.00 so the Fav is a good lay.
204 bets, 158 winning lays.
Using Stop At A Winner Staking plan.
And in Australian Racing.

How about place betting?
Using Shorties Staking on Auto.
6 Hours on Auto
Place Betting, using Shorties Staking.
The above is a session I ran from 12:58 (Lunchtime) to 18:48 (6 hours on auto).
Bank was $100.00. Biggest draw down was $15.00 of the bank (so $85.00 was never touched).
Profit after commission was $29.10 all hands free.
And as you can see by the lovely colours in the summary, 14 races were harness races and 13 were Thoroughbred (Gallops) races, all in Australia.
27 races, 19 were successful.
Why include Harness?
With Betfair, as we use their API (computer system) they unfortunately don't differentiate the difference in the race ID.
Race listing for place betting:
As you can see the track, date, time and To Be Placed, it does not tell us if it is a gallops meeting or harness.
Ascot Park yesterday was a harness meeting, today it is a gallops meeting.
The only real work around it to untick the races you know are harness, and the bot will not look at them or use a Market limit higher than what most harness races will have in the place market pool.
